Komarov was born in Moscow in 1913. In 1933-1939 he studied at Moscow State Art Institute, from 1936 he took part in art exhibitions. In 1940-1945 Komarov was an artist of the Grekov Studio of Military Painting. In 1943 he became a member of  the Artists Union of the USSR.

Komarov took part in World War II. He fought at the Western Front, Stalingrad Front, South-Western Front, Leningrad Front, 3^rd Ukrainian Front, 1^st Belorussian Front. During the Battle of Stalingrad Komarov was in the disposition of the 39^th Rifle Division of the 62^nd Army.

He was decorated with the Red Star Order, the Medal for the Defence of Stalingrad, the Medal for the Victory Over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945, and other rewards.
