Chernikova was born in Novosibirsk in 1916. In 1930 her family went to Stalingrad. In 1939 Chernikova graduated from Stalingrad Secondary Art School and entered Kharkov Art Institute, but didn’t finish it because of the war. Chernikova returned to Stalingrad, and was evacuated to the region of Saratov in the end of August, 1942. After the battle she drew a lot of pictures of the ruined Stalingrad and its reconstruction. Chernikova was a member of the Artists Union of Russia and had a title of Honoured Artist. |
