Мамаев курган. Площадь Героев
Зеркальная гладь воды в бассейне символизирует Волгу. На стене-знамени начертаны слова из фронтового очерка писателя и военного корреспондента Василия Гроссмана: «Железный ветер бил им в лицо, а они все шли вперед, и снова чувство суеверного страха охватывало противника: люди ли шли в атаку? Смертны ли они?!»
Шесть скульптурных групп на другой стороне бассейна рассказывают о мужестве защитников Сталинграда, их потрясающей силе духа и любви к Родине. В основе каждой группы – подлинные факты, истинные события Сталинградской битвы.
В день 25-й годовщины со Дня Победы над фашистской Германией на площади Героев в подпорной стене была заложена капсула с обращением к потомкам, которая будет вскрыта 9 мая 2045 г.
Square of Heroes
The smooth surface of the water in the pool symbolizes the Volga. On the wall there is an inscription: “The iron wind was biting at their faces, but still they were moving forward, and a feeling of a superstitious fear came over the enemies. It seemed to them that the attacking soldiers were immortal”. These are the words of Vasily Grossman, a famous Soviet writer and a war correspondent.
Six sculptural compositions on the other side of the pool tell about the courage of the heroic defenders of Stalingrad, their incredible fortitude and love of the native country. The sculptures are based on the real events of the Battle of Stalingrad.
In the Square of Heroes a capsule with the letter to the future generations was laid into the wall. It will be opened on May, 9, 2045, a hundred years after the victory over the Nazi Germany.
Der Platz der Helden
Das Wasser im Becken symbolisiert die Wolga. An der Wand in Form einer Fahne ist die Aufschrift zu lesen: „Der eiserne Wind schlug ihnen ins Gesicht, aber sie schritten immer vorwärts und ein abergläubisches Angstgefühl ergriff den Gegner: Waren das überhaupt Menschen, die zum Angriff vorwärts stürzten, waren sie sterblich?“ Das sind Worte aus dem Frontreportage des Schriftstellers und Kriegsberichterstatters Wassilij Grossman.
Sechs Großplastiken auf der anderen Seite des Wasserbeckens erzählen über den Heldenmut der Verteidiger Stalingrads, ihre wunderbare Kraft des Geistes und Liebe zur Heimat. Jeder Gruppe wurden echte Tatsachen, echte Ereignisse der Stalingrader Schlacht zugrunde gelegt.
Am 25. Jahrestag des Sieges über das faschistische Deutschland wurde auf dem Platz der Helden in die Mauer eine Kapsel mit einem Brief an die kommenden Generationen eingemauert, die am 9. Mai 2045 geöffnet wird.
